IDENTIFICATION
of digital works by IDDN

The International Federation of Computing and Information Technologies attributes IDDN as international identifier for digital works. The identifier (Inter Deposit Digital Number) fulfills three functions :

Identification	Information	Integrity
The IDDN is an ID card containing digitised credits for digital works. The authors shall insert the IDDN along with their documentation, screen pages, source programs, executable programs and publicity. Its generalised use allows the affirmation of author rights and the sanction of those who violate them.

Identification

In order to identify a work, INTERDEPOSIT attributes to it the IDDN containing in particular :

• The number of the deposit organism
• The number of order for the deposit
• The version number
• The year of the inscription to the repertoire

Information

The IDDN contains some user-information itself, in particular :

• The type of work indicating whether the work is for instance primary or derivative from preexisting works.
• The number of the product type showing whether the work is for instance a digital image or a program.
  

• The holder of the rights for the work and his e-mail address
• The particular conditions of use and exploitation for the work and possibly a link to a payment interface
• The IDDNs of the source works and a direct access to their certificates or then information about the non-IDDN-referenced sources

Integrity

Along with the referencing at INTERDEPOSIT the rightholder will sign his work by means of an electronic key calculation software :

• The signature is stored in the IDDN data base which enables to affirm later the existence of the work at the moment of referencing
• Any alteration of the referenced work can be detected
